Professor Kevin Sagis

Before becoming a Professor of Practice and the TREL Program Director, Professor Sagis assembled an extensive portfolio during his four decades in aerospace.  Early on in his career, he was focused on the government sector with NASA and the Space Shuttle. Later, he pivoted to commercial space at Lockheed Martin and created two cutting-edge launch vehicles: sparks that helped ignite NewSpace and the small-satellite industry. Also, at Lockheed Martin, he designed and fielded two launch vehicles that were instrumental in protecting the United States and our allies. Later in his career, he was a founding member of Virgin Orbit and architected a unique air-launched liquid rocket designed for small satellites and resilient world-wide operations. In addition to his wide-ranging experience in aerospace, he has made key contributions to the aviation sector, advancing remotely piloted aircraft, as well as being active in dot-com industry, creating wireless internet capability for Ticketmaster Online – Citysearch and refining automated loan processing for American Express Business Finance.
